Horseback Riding

Horseback riding is just one of the many activities you'll enjoy at Shaffer's High Sierra Summer Camp.
You can choose between two different horseback trail rides, which are offered as optional activities. (There is an additional charge for optional activities.) You can choose a 1-1/2 hour trail ride out of Graeagle. This ride meanders through some beautiful pine forests and rolling hills. Or, if you sign up for a session of 2 weeks or longer, you can choose to go on a 2-1/2 hour trail ride, which is out of Gold Lake in the Lakes Basin Recreation Area. On this ride, you'll loop around splendid lakes and take in some terrific views.
One 1-1/2 hour horseback trail ride is offered during our 1-week sessions, one 1-1/2 hour ride and one 2-1/2 hour are offered in our 2-week sessions, two 1-1/2 hour rides and two 2-1/2 hour rides are offered in our 3 and 4-week sessions, three 1-1/2 hour rides and two 2-1/2 hour rides are offered in our 5 and 6-week sessions, four 1-1/2 hour rides and three 2-1/2 hour rides are offered in our 7-week sessions, and five 1-1/2 hour rides and three 2-1/2 hour rides are offered in our 8-week session.
All rides are led by professional wranglers and are an excellent way for you to get an introduction to riding horses. And if you're an experienced rider, you'll get some relaxing time on a horse and the opportunity to see some beautiful countryside.
