Family Camp...Finally summer camp fun for the entire family!
For years, when parents would arrive to pick their children up from our children's summer camp (named by Outside Magazine as one of its 5 favorite summer camps in the country), they'd tell us, "I want to come to camp!"
Well, we listened and now the entire family can enjoy Family Camp!
So Much More than Just a Vacation!
What exactly is Family Camp? As you might guess, it's a family summer camp where the entire family gets to experience many of the same summer camp activities that kids enjoy at our children's summer camp. But family camps in general offer activities in which the entire family can participate. So what's different about Family Camp Shaffer style?
For us, it's so much more than just a vacation...
- Family Camp not only has fun activities in which the whole family can participate, but has activities that encourage family togetherness and communication, such as with our evening program and games.
- Family Camp offers real adventures that you can experience together, like kayaking across a beautiful mountain lake to a hidden waterfall, hopefully that you'll remember for a lifetime.
- Family Camp is flexible, where you can be as socially engaged as you want, or you can choose to do something on your own, such as explore the local area, take in a gold rush town, go fishing, read a book by a gurgling brook, or catch a round of golf at one of several championship courses in Graeagle.

Who Should Attend Family Camp?
Family Camp is geared toward families with school-aged children. (But grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins are welcome too!) If you have younger children, and after reading the Family Camp schedule below you decide that the little ones would enjoy it, that's great...bring 'em up!
Space is limited so reserve your space today!
Or for more information, call (866) 597-6617.
What're the Accommodations and Facilities like at Family Camp?
Family Camp is a lot like camping, but without all the work of prepping and bringing food, and lugging sports equipment. Families sleep in authentic native American tipis, rustic cabins, or you may bring your own family-sized tent. There are hot showers with private stalls in the bathhouse and real flush toilets. We all eat in the dining hall. In addition, we have an archery course, volleyball court, pool, camp fire circle, disc golf course, challenge course (including a zip line), horseshoe pit, and table tennis.
Don't miss out. Reserve your space today!

Where is Family Camp Located?
Family Camp is located on the peaceful headwaters of the North Yuba River in the splendid Tahoe National Forest, 45 minutes north of Truckee.
You'll be surrounded by pine and fir trees, some of which tower 200 feet tall, near the Lakes Basin Recreation area with dozens of pristine mountain lakes and miles and miles of hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails, close to the heart of the high Sierra gold country. Downieville, an idyllic gold country town that missed being the state capitol by 11 votes early in our state's history, is just 20 miles down Highway 49.
Drive time from the San Francisco Bay Area is about 4 hours. The physical address is 38782 Highway 49, Sattley, CA 96124. Use our Map & Directions, as Mapquest or your GPS will NOT give you accurate driving directions.
Or for more information, call (866) 597-6617.
